ORE acts as the portal for access, information, and advancement concerning all activities at UNCG that involve economic development. These activities including workforce development, leadership development, public policy analysis, capacity building, entrepreneurship, the creation of intellectual capital and innovation commercialization. ORE creates partnerships that link university, government, and industry resources to address economic development needs. There is currently a strong focus on development in downtown Greensboro, with the opening of HQ Greensboro, the GO Center, and the Greensboro Project Space.
Institute for Community & Economic Engagement (ICEE) Emily Janke
Serving as a central communication hub about community engagement activities, relationships, resources, scholarship, best practices, and outcomes, ICEE works with academic, student affairs, and administrative offices campus-wide to deepen, to make more pervasive, and to integrate community engagement into core academic work and systems for the purpose of advancing strategic institutional and community missions and goals.
Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP)
Joy M. Dismukes
OSP can assist with finding appropriate grants, pre- and post-award guidance, and crafting winning proposals.
Office of Leadership & Civic Engagement (OLCE) Jarrod Rudd
OLCE serves as a catalyst for experiential curricular and co-curricular leadership development and service-learning initiatives that empower students to effect positive change and serve as citizen leaders in a global community. OLCE works with the Graduate School and URSCO to manage community-based research grants. The community-based research (CBR) initiation grant supports proposals that represent collaborative partnerships among community partner, student, and faculty teams.

LaunchUNCG is is the umbrella innovation initiative housing the North Carolina Entrepreneurship Center (NCEC), Innovation Partnership Services Office (IPSO), and Greensboro NSF I-Corps Program (I-Corps).
North Carolina Entrepreneurship Center (NCEC) David Wyrick
NCEC’s goal is to expose and inspire all members of the UNCG community and beyond to an entrepreneurial path by providing expertise, resources and initiatives in entrepreneurship. The NCEC’s initiatives include UNCG Entrepreneur Day, 2 Minutes to Win It Pitch Competition, one-on-one consulting and a variety of other efforts. All are encouraged to contact NCEC if you need some advice on how to start or grow your business. The NCEC can also help connect you with other individuals and organizations throughout North Carolina.
Innovation Partnerships Services Office (IPSO) DAVID WYRICK
IPSO is responsible for various agreements integral to scholarly partnerships, collaborations, and commercialization, such as confidentiality agreements (NDAs), material transfer agreements (MTAs), and intellectual property clauses in sponsored research agreements. All scholars, even those unsure about their projects’ commercialization possibilities, are encouraged to reach out to IPSO for resources, guidance, and support. Furthermore, IPSO can help faculty, staff, and students connect with the corporate and other external partners.
Greensboro NSF I-Corps Program (I-Corps)
The Greensboro NSF I-Corps Program helps UNCG and NCAT innovators and their ideas find opportunity in the marketplace. Funded through a $500k from the National Science Foundation, I-Corps supports 30 teams per year with mini-grant funding and expert guidance find the ideal product-market opportunity for their business idea or innovation.
