On April 24, Justin LeBlanc will be coming to UNCG to share his experiences as a fashion designer, as one of the finalists on the TV show “Project Runway,” and of growing up deaf. LeBlanc is a native of Raleigh and teaches at NC State University.

LeBlanc was quoted in the News and Observer as saying, “Just growing up being a deaf person and having people constantly tell me that I’m not capable of doing things I want to do, that’s definitely something that’s scaring. ‘Project Runway’ has given me the opportunity so I can prove these people wrong.” (News and Observer – October 17, 2013).

Starting at 1 p.m. in the UNCG School of Education Building, Room 120, he will give a one-hour presentation followed by a one-hour Q&A session and then a Meet and Greet with refreshments.  This event is being sponsored by the School of Education and the Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies program in the Bryan School.

The event will be sign language interpreted. It is free and open to the public.
