
North Carolina Shines at the 2017 Gulf-South Summit
NC Campus Compact member campus, UNC Greensboro, hosted a very successful Gulf-South Summit on March 22-24. Over 300 individuals representing 90 institutions attended from the Gulf and southern states, including 168 participants from North Carolina. Multiple North Carolinians facilitated workshops also.

- Outstanding Practitioner – Dr. Lane Perry, Western Carolina University (Perry also received the 2015 NC Campus Compact Civic Engagement Administrator of the Year – Emerging Leader – Award)
- Outstanding Student – Joanna Woodson, Western Carolina University (Woodson was an NC Campus Compact 2016 Community Impact Award winner and is a 2017 Campus Compact Newman Civic Fellow)
- Outstanding Collaboration – Dr. Diya Abdo, Guilford College, Every Campus a Refuge
