The North Carolina Theatre for Young People at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is thrilled to announce plays for the 2014-15 season! Both shows this season explore the transformational power of love in our lives – and what it means to be real.  When we love and are loved in return, we become real.

The Velveteen Rabbit
by Margary Williams
adapted by Janet Allard

“There was once a Velveteen Rabbit…” This tale celebrates the power of love to transform our lives. Through the imaginative play of a boy and his toy rabbit, we come to discover the true meaning of what it is to be Real. Join them as they journey into a world of strange and wonderful magic with talking toys, wild adventures, and secret burrows. Appropriate for grades K- 5.

Pinocchio
by Carlo Collodi
adapted by Greg Banks

From the moment Gepetto creates him from a stick of wood, Pinocchio dreams of becoming a real boy. But will the all-too-tempting delights of Playland lead the little wooden puppet astray? When Gepetto is swallowed by a whale, it is up to Pinocchio to prove his love is real. Appropriate for grades K- 5.
