Fifty English-learning youth were treated to a unique educational experience this summer as UBEATS brought the music of nature to the classroom. UBEATS (short for Universal BioMusic Education Achievement Tier in Science) focuses on teaching children about the science of music through partnership between UNCG, Greensboro Science Center, Guilford County Schools, and The Center for New North Carolinians. The week-long camp was heldJuly 7th-11th at McNair Elementary School and was made possible through a grant from the Borroughs Wellcome fund. Students made music and learned about the connection between music and the natural world.

This video, created by Time Warner Cable News, shows youth learning about nature through sound. We hope you enjoy it!
