The film “City of Borders” will be screened Thursday, March 26, 6:30 pm, at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, following by a discussion.

“City of Borders” intimately portrays the lives of the Israeli owner of Jerusalem’s only gay bar, Shushan, and four Israeli and Palestinian patrons as they navigate a minefield of politics, religion, and discrimination. Set against construction of the separation wall between Israel and the Palestinian territories and the struggle for a gay pride parade in Jerusalem, five interwoven stories reveal complexities in the struggle for acceptance.

It is shown in conjunction with the exhibition” Zones of Contention: After the Green Line.” A discussion follows with Dr. Derek Kruger, Joe Rosenthal Excellence Professor, Department of Religious Studies and Program Faculty, Women’s and Gender Studies and Dr. Asa Eger, Assistant Professor, Department of History, UNCG.

Co-sponsored by the UNCG Department of Religious Studies and the Weatherspoon.
